Eaton Canyon

"Canyon Wall"
12"x16" Oil on canvas

I grew up in Pasadena California Which is at the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains. If you've ever seen the Tournament of Roses parade on tv on New Years day the mountains you see in the background are the San Gabriels. One of the canyons below them is called Eaton Canyon. I've hiked there many times and still go for the occasional hike when I'm in the neighborhood. This scene is of the east canyon wall in early morning light.

This is a great piece Ron. I have been back a couple of times to try and understand why I like it so much.

Hi Les,
I can't answer why you like it but I'm glad you do. You're a damn good painter Les so if there is something in one of my pieces that gets your attention then I'm doing something right.
What I like about this one is the dark foreground with the light browns and that mix of blue/green plants there. That area around the browns has a neat realistic look to it. Now to fix all of the rest of the paintings! hahahaha.
Thanks Les!
