Wow, this is really a beutiful painting, Ron!
Ron - I am the WC "wanna be" - this is just so helpful to see your photos, read your thinking, and see the finished painting. Your paintings are beautiful. How you get from "here to there" is very instructive. I have tons of photos just like these - they said something to me when I snapped them but then I get home and nothing...just a regular photo - but I see now how you have taken an "ordinary" photo and made it special. Wow.
Hi Alexandre - Thanks a lot for the good words...nice to hear from you again.
Hi Nathalie - I recognized your name Nathalie. I'm glad you can get something out of the posts here.
I have heard a lot of artists tell me they don't see a painting in a lot of their reference photos. I think most people assume the entire photo is to be used and don't think about cropping the photo for a good composition.
Cropping is how I always find my scenes....I don't think I've ever taken a photo where the entire photo was used for the painting.
Thanks again for the nice words...feel free to post on anything you want here...I always get back to people.
Ron
Hello Ron,
I’ve been following your art work for some time now. I am always amazed how you make your painting look much better than real life or in the photos. Well done on this one… You neighbor in Santa Ynez, Eric Cobb
Hi Eric,
Santa Ynez! That's close enough to get together for coffee sometime. Thanks for the comments on this one Eric and for taking the time to stop by here to see the progress.
The reference photo is, and should be, just the start of the work. They always change in some way or form from there before the final product is signed with the artists name. I try and keep scenes very similar though and at other time can stray from the path quite a bit.
If you want to stop by for coffee and a little shoptalk one of these days let me know Eric.
Ron
Ron, I would be honored to meet with you and have a cup. Call me any time at 249-0126 cell number. Thanks, Eric
Another fine one, Ron. I'm always fascinated by your nocturnes.
Hi Eric, Thanks, got it and will be calling.
Hi Dianne - Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. Been working on frames all day, I'm bushed! Nocturnes are really fun paintings to work on. The nights are so warm here now I'll have to get out and see if new lights will make it easier.
Ron
